Prithvi Sookta : An Ode To Mother Earth
The Prithvi-Sukta found in the Atharva Veda holds a significant position and offers valuable insights pertaining to embodying an ideal connection that should exist between living and non-living elements of the natural world. The verses present in Prithvi-Sukta, symbolizes and represents the mother Earth as everything that grows on it, and of the entirety of the life it sustains. Verses of the Prithvi-Sukta encompass both tangible and intangible aspects of nature, and portray not just their exterior representational forms but also the emotional connections underlying them. The verses metaphorically depict the Earth as a nurturing mother, the sky as a protective father, and the moon as Earth’s brother. However, this representation extends beyond mere personification to encompass a way of life.
