Pichwai – a Rajasthani Indian folk art, originated 400 yrs years ago in Nathdwara.
Pichwai paintings were traditionally hung behind idols of Lord Shrinathji (Krishna) in temples, and were used as a visual means of narrating tales/stories from his life.
This hand made painting depicts Mukharvind, Lord Shrinathji face. Shrinathji is form of Lord Krishna, safeguarding people of Vrindavan against a thunderstorm created by Indra Dev, by lifting the Govardhan Parvat on his little finger.
